HUMANITIES
One of LCC's most important roles is providing a wide selection of humanities courses for all Georgia Tech undergraduates. These humanities courses include surveys of historical periods in British and American literature, studies of major literary figures, courses on important literary topics, on genres, and on issues in literary theory. They also include a wide range of courses in film, theatre, performance studies, and creative writing. A few of LCC's digital media courses also carry humanities credit.
LCC offers approximately 32 humanities courses each term. Most of these courses are open to all undergraduates and require only ENGL 1101-02 as prerequisites. To view all LCC courses, see http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/students/ugrad/ core/corec.php.
While course offerings change by term and by year, current LCC classes are listed at the following links:
These courses can be taken to satisfy the 6-hour humanities requirement and/or to complete 12-hour LCC Certificate programs in
Some of these courses satisfy requirements for the Certificate in African-American Studies offered jointly by LCC and the School of History, Technology and Society.
Many of these courses also satisfy the requirements for Georgia Tech's minor in Women, Science, and Technology, LCC's minor in Performance Studies, and LCC's minor in Film and Media Studies.
