LCC Minor Program in Film and Media Studies
The School of Literature, Communication, and Culture (LCC) sponsors the Film and Media Studies Minor, which offers students in any major the opportunity to gain an in-depth knowledge of film and media through concentrated study in courses offered by LCC, and the Schools of History, Science, and Technology (HTS) and Modern Languages (ML). After completing the prerequisite of ENGL 1102, students must take 6 courses (18 total hours) distributed according to the menu provided below and attain an overall GPA of 2.0 in courses for the minor.
The Film and Media Minor is largely concentrated on the rhetoric, history, theory, and broad cultural context of its subject. As such it is not aimed at developing skills in film or media production, although for those interested in gaining background in this area, a course in video production can be used as part of the minor.
Advising: Students interested in the minor should consult with their own advisor and with LCC’s Director of Undergraduate Studies. He will direct the students to one of the Film Studies faculty who can assist them as a field advisor for the minor.
